April 2021 - Time, Talent and Treasure: A Salute to WID's Volunteers
Our values are often found in the things we treasure. While tangible treasures such as jewelry, money, etc. are important, I personally always want to remember to value talents and time as well. Even in our lives as nonprofit professionals, we often find ourselves ascribing value to in-kind services, and the same is true for a volunteer-led organization such as WID.
As we celebrate National Volunteer Month this April, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of incredible women who have contributed thousands of volunteer hours to countless WID programs and endeavors over our organization's more than 40-year history.
First, please allow me to thank the WID Board of Directors for all that they do to keep the organization moving forward and thriving, even in these strangest of times during the pandemic. You can learn more about who's on our Board here. Then, we have our committees, who work to continue WID’s programs and initiatives. Each and every committee member is integral to WID’s success. So, thank you as well.
For the first time ever, at the March 16th Virtual Forum, we honored Laurie Krotman with the inaugural Lifetime Service Award. She has given tirelessly to WID for more than a decade and no one could have deserved the honor more. The Board and I also decided to try another new way to recognize the volunteers in our midst, through the inaugural Volunteer Appreciation Award, which goes to none other than Melissa Kerbel. Melissa's profile is found below, where you can learn why her fellow Special Programs Committee members wanted to recognize her for all that she has done this past year for WID. Thank you, Melissa! I want to also congratulation our Member Spotlight, Alicia Cross, for her contributions to the field. You can learn more below as well.
So again, thank you to all those who have contributed the treasure of your time and talents to WID this year and beyond. I am sincerely grateful to you and want you to know how much you are appreciated.
Onward, Upward, Forward,
