April 2022 - Time, Talent, Treasure and Energy: The Good Work of WID
Spring is fully upon us now, and much of our energy at WID is focused on the upcoming Virtual Career Fair, followed by the Woman of Achievement Luncheon on May 20th. I am thrilled and excited that I will see so many of you in-person for the first time in more than two years! It promises to be a fantastic celebration of not one; not two; but three incredible women.
The contributions of our Woman of Achievement honorees brings to mind the true spirit of April, which is National Volunteer Month. Of course, WID has a stellar management team which helps to administer the incredible programs and activities that we accomplish each year. However, it is only through the hours—the time, talent, treasure, and beautifully creative energy—that our volunteers bring to the fore, that we reach our goals and provide the WID community with all it needs to thrive. It is with this in mind that I express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every person who has ever given of their time, talent, treasure, or energy to making WID a success. Thanks to all current and past volunteers, board members, committee members and greeters, and those who jumped into the virtual realm, for what you’ve done for WID. If I could, I would recognize you each by name and send a token of appreciation. Alas, the number is too numerous to count, but you know who you are. And again, I say, this is the power of WID.
Last year, recognizing the number of volunteer hours needed to make WID operate well, I had the idea to establish an annual Volunteer of the Year award and the amazing members of the WID board got behind this initiative to present the inaugural award last year. Well, it is in this same spirit of gratitude that I also congratulate this year’s Volunteer of the Year Award winner, Jennifer Levine! You can learn more about how Jennifer has risen to the occasion for WID over the past year. Thank you and congratulations, Jennifer! We appreciate you very much.
Good work only really “works” when it is authentic. So, thank you to WID’s volunteers for your tireless, sincere efforts to keep us strong. We couldn’t do it without you.
Onward, Upward, Forward,
