With her team of specialists, H2Growth has partnered with 100 nonprofits—from start-ups to major institutions—to raise over $1.5 billion.

Previously, Hartley served as Vice President of External Affairs at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Earlier she held senior/development positions at Bard College, Columbia University, New School, New York Public Library, and New York University.  Over twelve years she taught as an adjunct professor at the New York University George H. Heyman Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising and over six years she co-chaired and produced the regional leadership summits held at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. H2Growth most recently produced the first summit on racial and economic equity in Seattle, Washington.

Hartley currently serves as a board member of PowHer NY, a coalition of 100 organizations advancing economic equity for women and their families. She also serves on the board of the Heritage Management Organization, an international nonprofit that trains professionals in more than 50 countries, transforming the world’s heritage sites into dynamic sources of learning, community identity, and economic development.

Hartley is co-author of the book, Big Impact: Insights & Strategies From America’s Non-Profit Leaders. Through interviews with nearly 50 nonprofit and foundation leaders across the U.S., Big Impact explores the role of the nonprofit sector in civil society and how it drives social change. David Callahan, founder and editor of Inside Philanthropy, called the book, "A deep and nuanced look at top leaders of foundations and nonprofits in an era when civil society is more influential than ever. If you want to know how the grand masters of the social change sector think—and how they're attacking the biggest problems in America and the world—read this book."

Hartley holds an M.B.A. in management from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a B.A. in speech and theater from Montclair State University.
