by The Resource Alliance
Overview
Panel
While demand for racial equity in nonprofit and philanthropic organisations grows, Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) representation of remains low. This powerful conversation will shed light on the state of racial equity in our sector and the challenges that continue to be faced by people, and especially women, of colour. According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) in the United States, as of 2021, only 10% of fundraising professionals identified as people of colour, highlighting the urgent need for greater diversity and inclusion.
In parallel, the Institute of Fundraising in the United Kingdom noted that, as of 2018, only 9% of the voluntary sector workforce is from a BIPOC background.
This keynote will be moderated by Christy Carter, who will speak with Yolanda F. Johnson, President of Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy (WOC), and Uma Mishra, Initiator and Volunteer Facilitator at The Racial Equity Index (REI). Yolanda and Uma will share their expertise and shed light on the challenges faced by people of color and the state of racial equity in our industry.
This event, organised by the Resource Alliance, Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy (WOC), and the Racial Equity Index (REI) will address the pressing issues related to racial equity in the global development sector, and specifically within fundraising and philanthropy, and outline key steps in building equitable organisations.
