August 2021
Autumn will soon be here, and along with it, a strong mix of hope and uncertainty. Many in the WID community are pondering how future plans will actually come to fruition, and looking forward to a day we can all come together in-person again in a worry-free environment. I know that so many of you are thriving, and successfully navigating whatever challenges may come, whether it be in-person programming, connecting with donors and each other, juggling video conferences and digital hiccups, and determining just what the return to work looks like on an individual basis. As we begin another program year, we look forward to connecting with everyone at our virtual gatherings. And of course, I will be the first to greet you with the most sincere smile whenever the time does come that we can truly join together again in-person safely. Until that day arrives, as L. M. Montgomery once wrote, “Looking forward to things is half the pleasure of them. You mayn't get the things themselves; but nothing can prevent you from having the fun of looking forward to them.”
Please make sure you’ve saved the date for September 23rd at 6:00 p.m. on Zoom for the third and final installment of our Women Who Lead Series, presented by the WID President's Council. Our topic is focusing upon our own leadership journeys. Yes, as nonprofit development professionals, we must manage our boards, but what about your own goals of boardship and leadership? You deserve a seat at the table, too, and we going to remind you how to prepare for those opportunities. The event is open to all, but free for President’s Council members. It’s certain to be of great interest to many.
I am so excited to begin working with WID’s newest board members and I hope you enjoy learning more about them, below.
And as always, WID is here to celebrate and support you. Please do stay in touch and let us know of any specific needs within our community. When our members speak, we listen, and as often as possible, we try to create opportunities that help our community thrive. Wishing you all the best as summer comes to a close.
