November 2021 - Giving Thanks
As we celebrate Thanksgiving and enter the holiday season, I continue to stand in absolute gratitude for the WID Community and all that we continue to accomplish during what remains an uncertain time. I am grateful for the many friendships I have formed through WID and for the wonderful things to come as we look ahead to 2022 and seeing you again in-person.
For women in the fundraising and philanthropy sectors, equity remains top-of-mind. This is why the WID President’s Council gave our community the space to participate in an impactful and transparent conversation between leaders in executive search earlier this month. As women, I feel that it is important to lift as we climb, and to encourage each other in our lives and careers as we all continue our individual journeys toward a more just and equitable sector and society.
WID certainly reinforces this, as the second year of our Career Advisors program is about to get underway. I wish all our Advisor-Advisee pairings success with their partnerships! And, there are many incredible things to come in the space around young professionals in our sector in 2022 as well. Congrats to our featured member this month, Sharon Duncan. She most definitely deserves the spotlight and I hope you’ll enjoy reading her story, as well as Kim Gersten’s view into the world of interim work.
As we look ahead to the end of the year, I encourage you all to join us for a festive virtual holiday celebration on December 8th. In addition to famed cocktail expert, Camille Wilson, I will be giving a mini-workshop on how we can take stock of our careers and delve into our “trove of fabulousness,” which I truly believe every woman in the sector has at her disposal, to use for career success. Come have a bit of fun with us and be inspired as well!
As we look ahead to 2022, there’s even more in store, beginning with a special New Year edition of Deconstructing Development. I am grateful for each and every member of our community and I wish you a beautiful start to the holiday season.
