WID President's Letters - By Yolanda F. Johnson

September 2019 - WID Annual Member Meeting

“I am proud to be a fundraiser. We are beacons of light and hope, illuminating the path to effective philanthropy, and making the world and the country a better place.”

I thought to share with you the opening words seen above, which happen to be my own, based upon my remarks from our recent WID Annual Member Meeting. It was an amazing evening at a beautiful venue, with plenty of connections being made between WID members and delicious fare, provided by Great Performances. The evening also marked the unveiling of the new WID brand, as you can also see from this newly formatted e-newsletter! In addition to the brand, we launched several new membership initiatives and offerings. It was all created with our members in mind, and I sincerely hope that you take a few minutes to sort through the new website and use the new tools and members-only discounts and perks we’ve provided.

Indeed, I am proud to be a woman in development, and as I have also said before, there really is no other place like WID. From WID Wellness to WID Wisdom, WID Lit to the Featured Resource Guide, we are unique and offer so much that you just cannot find anywhere else.

I hope to see you at future events, especially the upcoming Grammar Workshop for Development Professionals on October 3rd and the Executive Series event in partnership with the Indiana University Women’s Philanthropy Institute on October 23rd. You can find more information about these events below. I also want to tell you about another wonderful project you’ll hear about soon, the WID 40th Anniversary Affirmations 2020 calendar, presented in partnership with Chase Press. It will consist of affirmational quotes from twelve WID leaders; past, present, and future and will be exclusively distributed as a special gift to those who attend this year’s holiday Meet-Up.

Please always remember that WID is here to help you, to support you, and to celebrate you as you move forward in your careers!
